Niervèze bread oven

This communal bread oven is in the heart of the mountain hamlet of Nierveze. It is beautifully preserved and covered in phonolite stone slabs. It is used to cook bread in June every year during a traditional village festival.

There were once five watermills along this stream, but Niervèze watermill is the only one that has survived. It’s a beautiful spot to come for a walk.

Notre Dame de Consolation Chapel

This small chapel overlooks the village of Thiezac and is famously known as the place where Anne of Austria once came to pray while she was in Vic sur Cère to take the waters. She was anxious at that time to provide an heir to the throne and a year later she gave birth to Louis XIV.
