From this site there is a splendid view over Vic sur Cère and the valley. Here you’ll see the remains of a castle where Pierre de Vic was born, also known as the Monk of Montaudon, a troubadour famous for his humorous poetry.
In the 11th century, this site known as "Castel Viel" was home to two noble families "de Cère" and "de Vic" who were both lords and who paid hommage to the Carlat viscounts. It is the birthplace of Pierre de Vic, a Montaudon monk and troubadour in the court of Alfons of Aragon, Viscount of Carlat. His music and poems were very popular and humorous. He died in 1210 in a priory in Spain.
