This communal bread oven is in the heart of the mountain hamlet of Nierveze. It is beautifully preserved and covered in phonolite stone slabs. It is used to cook bread in June every year during a traditional village festival.
The stone bread oven dates back to 1775 and it has been renovated using traditional techniques. Set in the heart of this lovely hamlet, it is regularly used for local fetes.
