Pailherols

Description

This charming mountain village has lots for visitors to discover. It is particularly famous for its annual Cheese Festival, Fête des Fromages de Tradition held during the first weekend in June and that attracts many visitors.

The village was created in 1789 when the parish of Raulhac was broken up. Work to build the church began in 1517 and was completed in 1527. It is from this date that the village was affectionately called the "Little Lourdes" because of the miracles that were said to have been performed there. Today a pilgrimage and procession is held on the Sunday following 15 August.
