Set high up on the south side of the Plomb du Cantal, this hamlet has lost none of its authentic charm. At an altitude of 1 200 m, the hamlet has a splendid vantage point over St Jacques des Blats and the valley of the River Cère.
The hamlet of Les Gardes is a lovely place to visit for its traditional architecture and history. Its name originates from the Occitan word "gardo" used to describe a high look-out point. The houses are built very close together and most of them date from before 1800.
